Dr. Marissa Gelinas is an experienced Chiropractic Doctor with over a decade of clinical experience. As Durand Health’s Clinical Director, Dr. Gelinas provides support to both our team and our patients to ensure that every experience at Durand Health is seamless. Dr. Gelinas recognized early in her career the importance of an integrated model of care to provide the best patient experience. Dr. Gelinas has a passion for healthy living & exercise and strives to continue to educate herself on various innovations in health and wellness care.

Medical Director & Physician, MD, MPH, CCFP-EM, ABOM
Dr. Ashley White, MD, MPH, CCFP-EM, ABOM, serves as a Physician and Medical Director with Durand Health. She is a Medical Doctor certified in family, emergency and obesity medicine with significant clinical experience in addictions medicine. She is also a certified life and wellness coach. She takes a patient, “whole person” approach to complex clinical problems to help her patients thrive and perform at their highest level. Dr. White is forward-thinking, prevention-focused, and strives to empower each of her clients during their wellness journey. When working with her, Dr. White’s clients like to see that change is possible, and it all starts with a change in perspective.

Dr. Nick, HBSc (Physiology), MD, CCFP, FCFP, has been in medical practice for 35 years. Practising in family medicine; this included 33 years in the emergency room, including ten years as an Emergency Department Medical Director, and addiction medicine in the Correctional System. He brings his long experience to Durand Health as a physician and Medical Director. Nick had thirteen years in his own primary care practice and has always been a proponent of a holistic approach, which entails a thorough and intimate understanding of a patient’s overall health and well-being. Doing this requires a significant dedication to the patient beyond a quick visit. Durand Health offers the style of practice that Nick feels all patients deserve. His patients in family practice were always grateful for his unrushed approach and devotion to preventative health.
Dr. Greg Bolger completed his Honours Degree in Human Kinetics with a speciality in Movement Science at the University of Windsor before heading to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic. He is passionate about helping people treat not only their symptoms during treatments but getting to the root of the functional issues that may be causing problems to reoccur. In practice, Dr. Bolger practices a patient-centred approach to the assessment and treatment of each patient. Throughout his career, he has continually learned and added new assessment and treatment options to serve his patients best.

Dr. Amani El Sawaf is a licensed Naturopathic Medicine Doctor, board-certified by the College of Naturopaths in Ontario. El Sawaf completed conventional medical school training in Egypt. She graduated from medical school with an honours degree. She joined the rheumatology residency program at Cairo University, Egypt. Amani has since devoted her time and efforts to studying naturopathic medicine to help people support their physical, mental and emotional health. She enjoys seeing what her patients can accomplish when they are listened to and feel empowered on their healing journey.

Dr. Julia Tolton, HBSc, ND, is a Naturopathic Doctor who received her Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Her background in science and research is a cornerstone of her practice – ensuring that evidence-based medicine is the focus of all her naturopathic interventions. She is passionate about finding the balance between enjoying the indulgences in life and focusing on your health & wellness. She incorporates that approach into the plans she develops for her patients while working closely with them to ensure they get the attention and care they deserve throughout the process.

Ola graduated with Honours from Oxford College’s Registered Massage Therapy program. Ola believes in the importance of a holistic approach to healthcare for physical well-being and mental health. One of her passions during her education was learning about how Massage Therapy can be used not just for generalized relaxation but for relief of many pathologies. Ola strongly believes that massage therapy sessions are not a “one size fits all”; she believes in tailoring each treatment to each patient’s specific needs and goals. She strongly believes in educating patients on remedial exercises, recommending hydrotherapy solutions or demonstrating self-care techniques for use at home.

Tapping into her years of experience as a Registered Massage Therapist and Registered Acupuncturist, Sophia supports her clients with a holistic approach when working with them toward their health and wellness goals. She tailors her treatments to the individual’s needs and preferences using a variety of techniques such as deep tissue massage, cupping, Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture, and acupressure. Whether you seek treatment for a specific issue or a more general, relaxing massage, Sophia can match therapeutic techniques to meet you where you are on your health journey and promote your body’s ability to heal.

Registered Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Medicine Practioner
Chun Hui (Spring) Shen is a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) & Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP). Spring received her education at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine (AIM) Academy and the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (OCTCM). Her practice places a great emphasis on the treatment of disharmony in the mind, emotions and spirit. Spring’s nature is one of kindness and compassion, and she has a deep commitment to helping people restore their health, improve their well-being and pursue health in mind/body/spirit as a whole. Spring is known to be very attentive and has a calming and empathetic approach to her patients.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) R.P. & Art Therapist
Cristina Palermo is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Art Therapist. She completed her training in Art Therapy and Psychotherapy at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and is currently finishing her thesis. Cristina has always been passionate about the arts, and her own journey as an artist helped her recognize the therapeutic value it holds. Cristina takes a very eclectic, organic, and person-centred approach, inviting the client to guide the direction and pace of sessions. Additionally, she can integrate CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and meditation approaches to providing psychoeducation. Don’t think you’re an artist? That’s ok; prior skills are not necessary. It is inclusive to all ages and genders.

Sophia Sammy is a Registered Psychotherapist with significant experience working with various client demographics. She has worked within a school setting and in community and clinical settings. She implements CBT, solution-focused therapy, art therapy, and spiritually integrated therapy, to name a few. Sophia’s client-centred therapeutic approach encompasses an eclectic array of cognitive, humanistic, and behavioural therapies. She takes an individual approach with her clients, as no two people will experience life the same way. Seeing her client’s progress in therapy over time brings Sophia the most joy from her work. Her high-spirited and soothing demeanour makes everyone feel welcome.

Maryanne Hicks is a Registered Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work, an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Maryanne’s compassionate listening style is non-judgemental and encourages clients to engage openly in their therapeutic journey. Her therapeutic style is goal-focused and strength-based with a client-centred approach while striving to utilize the most appropriate modality to match a client’s issue. Maryanne’s areas of focus are depression/anxiety, family life, self-esteem and life challenges, coping strategies and stress.

Medical Aesthetician and Medical Laboratory Assistant Technician
Ashley is a Medical Aesthetician and Medical Laboratory assistant technician. She has over 6 years of experience working in various spas and clinics. With that, Ashley has experience working with various skin types and age groups. She understands that not everyone’s skin is exactly alike, even with similar conditions, and caters each treatment to your skin needs. Through thorough consultation and analysis, she takes the time to understand your skin and lifestyle to get you to your best skin.
For more than 10 years, Cassie has been providing patients with aesthetic solutions. With extensive experience in medical-grade skincare, laser therapy and energy-based treatments, Cassie is an expert in building transformative treatment plans that align with her patient’s goals, budgets and lifestyles.
Stefanie is a Registered Practical Nurse with a Post-Graduate specialization in Perioperative Nursing. She has been nursing for 8 years, six working as an O.R. nurse. She is passionately creating a judgment-free, caring environment. After five years of working closely with a plastic surgeon group, she joined Durand Health in the Clinical & Aesthetic Nurse role. She is excited to join the 360° clinic run by Dr. White while leading the Extended Team Care Program. Stefanie is also on a long-term mentorship with Dr. White as she uses her experience with plastic surgery to build her injectables practice at Durand Health.
Taylor is a compassionate Registered Holistic Nutritionist, board-certified by the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. She possesses additional Medicinal Herbs and Brain Health Coaching certifications and is a Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher. Taylor understands the overwhelm that can come from diet and lifestyle changes, and she ensures her clients feel supported, empowered, and ready to make long-term changes. Taylor creates science-backed, comprehensive plans that work best for each individual lifestyle, as no two bodies or circumstances are the same. She intends to help you achieve proper physical and mental health by encouraging you to fuel your body and develop habits that support the best version of yourself.

Jillian Dowling is a Certified Sleep Science Coach (CSSC). Since sleep is connected to every process of our bodies, Jillian takes a holistic approach to finding the root of each unique sleep issue and then creates an easy-to-follow plan to improve sleep quality. After mentoring with Dana Obleman and the Sleep Sense Program, Jillian spent years focusing on the sleep health of infants and toddlers. Soon realizing there was such an intense need for sleep support for older children and adults, she began her studies with The Spencer Institute and became a Certified Sleep Science Coach. Bridging the gap between medical sleep support and behavioural sleep strategies has become the cornerstone of Jillian’s practice.

Jesse is a CPTN-certified personal trainer with over 10 years of experience. During his career, he has had the opportunity to work with clients from many fitness backgrounds and with varying goals. Whether the goal is sport-specific, weight loss, lean muscle mass gain, or for pain management, he cares deeply about his clients. There’s nothing more valuable to Jesse than helping somebody go through an experience that makes them feel happy, confident, and strong.

Bryan is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. His approach to fitness is that it can be catered to anyone, and movement should never be intimidating. Motion is lotion, and, as a client, you should always leave the gym feeling better than when you entered it. Bryan believes that exercise should be enjoyable. Not everyone wants or needs to train like an elite athlete. Some people want to learn to move well and to move more often. Integrating movement into your daily life can be done in fun and encouraging ways.
April has 18 years of experience working in healthcare clinics within management and rehabilitation roles since completing her Physiotherapist Assistant Program in 2004. One of her main priorities has always been ensuring that all clients have an exceptional experience in a warm, caring and safe environment while being supported by a team of compassionate healthcare providers. Her hard work and dedication have helped her develop the skills needed to manage small and large groups of healthcare professionals and always go above and beyond to meet the needs of her team and clients.

Sarah has over 5 years of experience working within an integrated health clinic. Having grown up with a Chiropractor for a mum, health and wellness have always been a part of her life. Sarah graduated from Humber College after completing her studies in Film and Media Production. She enjoys using her skills to help bring awareness and attention to the different cultural issues prevailing in our society. During her free time, Sarah enjoys movies, reading, trying new recipes, and travelling. She hopes she can make any and all people feel welcome and supported at Durand Health.
