Physiotherapy Services in Hamilton
Physiotherapy is a regulated profession in the province of Ontario. Physiotherapists have in-depth knowledge of how the body moves and functions and their treatments include rehabilitation as well as prevention of injury to guide you in the best direction with your recovery and health.
What Type of Treatments Do Physiotherapists Provide?
Manual Therapy – The physiotherapist will use their hands to guide your joint through different ranges of motion to restore normal movement and improve joint function.
Therapeutic Exercises – Exercises are often used with other treatment therapies to help build strength, balance, and flexibility to rehabilitate injuries, prevent future damage and increase overall performance.
Stretching – Our physiotherapist uses various stretching techniques to help relax tightened muscles, restore joint motion, and improve strength.
Education – Knowledge is power. Our physiotherapists want you to understand the mode of your injury and how to best heal and prevent future injury(ies). Also important is making you understand safe practices and how exercise and rehabilitation are essential for recovery.
Myofascial Cupping Therapy – Silicone cups are applied to treatment areas to increase blood flow and promote tissue healing and repair. Cupping is also effective in relieving pain and helping improve muscular function.
TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) – This therapy uses low voltage electrical current applied to the skin through adhesive pads to relieve pain.
Kinesiotaping™ – We use specially designed soft, tension-loaded stretchy tape that is applied to the body to correct faulty movement patterns, improve posture, and decrease swelling and pain. You may have seen this on many athletes in the Olympics and other professional sports teams.
