Acupuncture in Hamilton

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years and is known for its ability to stimulate specific points on the body to restore balance and harmony.

At Durand Health, we offer two types of acupuncture services to meet your unique needs.

Our first type of professional is a Registered Acupuncturist (R. AC) who is regulated by the CTCMPAO in Ontario. They practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture using TCM techniques. During your acupuncture treatment, thin metal needles will be inserted into specific points along your meridians, which will help to harmonize and replenish the flow of Qi (energy) and blood throughout your body. The needles are then manipulated by hand or electrical stimulation, called electroacupuncture, to help restore balance and promote health in both the mind and body. This approach is ideal for those looking to restore their natural equilibrium and balance the yin and yang.

Our second type of acupuncture is practiced by other healthcare professionals, such as registered massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapist, and others. This approach is based strictly on body anatomy and involves inserting thin metal needles into specific muscle trigger points or pain points. Gentle stimulation is then applied to release tension and alleviate pain. This approach is particularly effective for those who are dealing with muscle tension or specific pain points.

Whether you are seeking Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture or an anatomy-based approach, we have the expertise to help you achieve your wellness goals. Our team of professionals is dedicated to providing you with a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.

What To Expect

Once you are comfortable, the practitioner will begin by inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on your body. As the needles are inserted, you may feel a slight tingling or mild pressure, but this sensation typically fades within a minute. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, our practitioners are trained to adjust the treatment according to your individual tolerance. Once the needles are in place, you will have the opportunity to relax.

Once your treatment is complete, the practitioner will gently remove the needle, and you will have a chance to gather your thoughts and slowly get up before leaving the treatment room.
