Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, the light is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair and is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

What to Expect:
A hand-held laser instrument will be held to the area to be treated. Depending on the type of laser, a cooling device on the tip of the instrument or a cool gel might be used to protect your skin and lessen the risk of discomfort & side effects. The sensation of laser hair removal has been described as small pricking sensations or a warm pinprick, and you’ll likely feel a sensation of cold from the cooling device or gel. You might notice redness and swell for the first few hours after laser hair removal. At Durand Health we do our best to minimize your discomfort both during and after treatment.
Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed for initial hair removal (usually 6-8 sessions), and maintenance treatments might be needed over time.
The team at Durand Health is happy to offer free virtual or in-person consults to determine if this treatment is a good option for you.
